The Poèmaton is a poetry booth that has traveled and made various stops throughout the province
of Manitoba. It is a cultural multimedia project that strengthens poetic, oral and written
expression. This initiative was launched in 2015 by the Alliance française du Manitoba under the
project Portrait of a francophony on the move, and aims to create a strong sense of identity and
poetic expression in French.
The illustrations that appear on the booth were designed by Manitoban author, actor and artist Bertrand Nayet, who moved to the prairie province from France during his teenage years. He is also the founder and permanent secretary of the Collectif post néo-rieliste, which reunites a number of French-speaking Manitoban poets.
